EG Sports – It’s In the game

There were mixed fortunes for our Scouts and Cubs in their respective football tournaments.  While the Cubs tasted victory, a seemingly unstoppable Scouts team tumbled out of the competition at the semi-final stage.

Scouts 5-a-side:
The boys looked like the best team in the competition throughout the group stages, conceding only a single goal and winning all their games.
4-0 (Daniel 4)
3-0 (Theo, Daniel 2)
1-0 (Theo)
5-0 (Daniel 3, Harry, Sam)
2-1 (Daniel, Sam)
3-0 (Daniel, Harry, Sam)
The Champagne was on ice, while a confident smile had appeared on Roo’s face, but then, disaster…! The wheels came off in the semi-final, with our lads on the wrong end of a 0-4 drubbing.  It was a real shame for the boys, as they had played terrific football on the night and looked certainties to make the final.

Our  player of the tournament was Daniel, who missed the above team group shot as he was talking to his agent at the time.  What a performance our centre forward put in, scoring 11 goals on the night.  Top man…!

Cubs 7-a-side:
As the annual 5-a-side event had been scandalously cancelled, an alternative competition was organised by Mary Halls from the Egham Hythe group. We are very grateful to Mary for all of her efforts, the boys had a great night.

Our Cubs side played 6 matches, winning three and drawing three, and not conceding a single goal on the night.  What a performance! The boys won the competition by a whopping 6 points.  Our goal-scorers were Morgan, Ollie & Henry, but it was our keeper who really stood out on the night.

The player of the tournament was Nathan, who kept 6 clean sheets, and was in stunning form all evening.
